Mamoru ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:
- Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address and name.
- Check-In Data: We store timestamps of when you check in to the app.
- Emergency Contacts: Email addresses or Mamoru user connections that you manually add as emergency contacts.
- Device Tokens: Push notification tokens to send you reminders and alerts.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Mamoru is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT collect:
- Location data
- Contacts from your phone
- Photos or media
- Browsing history
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Advertising identifiers
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Authenticate your account
- Track your daily check-ins
- Send alerts to your emergency contacts if you miss your threshold
- Send you push notification reminders (if enabled)
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure, which employs industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. We retain your data only as long as your account is active.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Mamoru:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and push notifications
- SendGrid (Twilio): Email delivery for safety alerts
- Apple Sign In: Account authentication
These services have their own privacy policies and may collect limited technical data necessary to provide their services.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Check-in history and emergency contact information are deleted immediately upon account deletion.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except:
- To send alert emails to emergency contacts you have designated (only when alerts are triggered)
- To comply with legal obligations if required by law
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Modify your emergency contacts at any time
- Opt out of push notifications
To delete your account, use the "Delete Account" option in the app's Settings.
Children's Privacy
Mamoru is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
